Ep. 5: Crash-Talking with The Cooperative Trust's James Marshall
Join the conversation with James Marshall as we talk origins of the Crasher movement, future opportunities to get involved and exciting things to come.
- Introduction to The Cooperative Trust: James Marshall, the Manager of The Cooperative Trust, discusses its origin and purpose—The Cooperative Trust, Filene's young adult network, was founded in 2010 to address the lack of young adult involvement within the credit union system. The online community, called the Crash Network, has now grown to include almost 1,200 members working in credit unions worldwide.
- In-person Experiences: The conversation highlights recent events, specifically the ACUC(America's Credit Union Conference) Crash in Seattle. This event, although smaller than the GAC (Governmental Affairs Conference), provides a more intimate platform for young professionals to network and engage with leaders in the credit union system—notably, Jim Nussle, the CEO and president of CUNA (Credit Union National Association), shared insights and interacted directly with the Crashers.
- Future Direction of the Crash Program: We talk about upcoming Crash events, specificallyour plan to launch applications for Crash big.bright.minds., Filene's annual conference. The focus of the program remains on empowering young professionals to use their voices to make a difference in their credit unions and their communities, positively shaping the future of the industry.
