Taylor C. Nelms is an anthropologist and ethnographer with 15 years of experience studying money, technology, and financial services while leading creative collaborations across industry, academia, and nonprofits.
As the Senior Director of Market Insights and Advisory Services at Filene, Taylor leads the organization's thought leadership, custom and commissioned research, and growing consulting business to drive actionable change in the credit union industry through research and innovation. He previously led Filene’s Centers of Excellence, including supervising the organization's publication pipeline and partnerships with leading academics.
Taylor received his PhD in Anthropology from the University of California, Irvine, where he also worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Department of Anthropology and a Research Assistant at the Institute for Money, Technology and Financial Inclusion. He also holds degrees from the University of Cambridge (where he was a Gates Cambridge Scholar) and The Ohio State University. He is the current Editor at Large (and former Editor in Chief) of the Journal of Cultural Economy.
