The Road to 1010

The Road to 1010

Credit unions are doing more to help their members and communities than ever before.

We know this because we see it every day. Everywhere we turn, credit unions are inspiring us anew with stories of what they do -- from building credit among those who have none, to bringing financial access to places where there isn’t any, to seeking innovative solutions to serve people otherwise turned away. “A door to opportunity” is how one credit union we work with describes what they offer to anyone who comes to them.

Filene Research Institute exists to support, enable, shape, carry, serve, nudge and amplify the work of these inspiring credit unions doing more with their missions. To keep up with this growth, we, too, have needed to grow over the years. And we are excited to say it’s time for us to have a new ‘door to opportunity’ as well. Not just a door, but a new home – a space to fit our hearts and heads that get filled with love and inspiration from the credit unions we work with each day.

The days of us being a “one-pizza team” are gone, and the financial services industry has grown immensely more divergent, complex and disruptive since we were that size. To keep pace with the evolution of our industry, we need to take a new dynamic approach to collaboration across our teams in a space that pushes us to see things anew; to approach better solutions for credit unions’ everyday needs with a fresh vision. This change in environment gives us a moment to reflect on where we started, remember why we do what we do, and look forward to what more we will accomplish in each year ahead.

We are excited to recognize this moment in the credit union movement with a move of our own, and dedicate our commitment to our mission in our new home at 1010 E. Washington Avenue, Suite 306 (or "1010" as we affectionately call it). As always, we invite you to come play with us – and we hope you’ll stop by for a visit someday – we’ll have a pizza, or two, waiting for you…
