Joe Heck

Head of Partnerships at Happy Money

Joe Heck is the Head of Partnerships at Happy Money, in charge of forging relationships with other organizations that can help advance the company’s mission of helping borrowers become savers. He joined the company in early 2019 and was critical in driving the hyper-growth company’s long term capital strategy for originating the Payoff loan product. Today his team manages and forms new strategic partnerships with many of the nation’s most innovative financial institutions and directs capital and secondary market transactions for the Payoff loan. Prior to joining Happy Money, Joe spent 15 years at CUNA Mutual Group in various leadership roles. He most recently led product innovation within the company’s Transformation program, working to identify and build the best solutions for financial institutions on their digital transformation journey. Joe managed teams using a Lean Startup process and mindset, focusing specifically on developing solutions related to digital lending and loan participations. He also served as an advisor to CUNA Mutual Group’s venture arm, CMFG Ventures, in evaluating FinTech partnerships specific to the credit union industry. Joe previously worked at a credit union where he implemented and managed indirect lending and financial planning programs. Joe received his MBA from the University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Business and has a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from Michigan State University. Joe and his wife Britta have two young children, Oliver and Lincoln.
