Bijal Gami is the Payments Manager at Local Government Federal Credit Union. LGFCU is a financial cooperative serving the financial needs of employees, elected officials, elected office-holders and volunteers of local governments in North Carolina.
Bijal joined the the credit union movement at Marriott Federal Credit Union in Bethesda, MD as a Financial Analyst. When he relocated back to Raleigh, NC he joined LGFCU. He served a multitude of roles in Finance, including but not limited to working on investments, liquidity risk, interest rate risk and forecasting. When LGFCU announced they were building a new credit union, Bijal was chosen to handle the strategy for all the Payment options to be offered by the credit union. The Payments industry is rapidly changing and Bijal feels the key to staying ahead is innovation, both internal and external, with a particular interest in partnership with a variety of vendors. With this notion, Bijal has started multiple cross-departmental groups at LGFCU to focus on Payment Innovation.
Bijal earned a Certified Payments Strategist (CPS) designation in 2016 and the Credit Union Development Educator (CUDE) designation in 2014. He holds a Bachelors in Finance from North Carolina State University and currently lives in Raleigh, NC with his wife and two boys (Shay-2, Nevin-4).
