Andrea Marpillero-Colomina

Andrea is a spatial policy scholar. She researches the intersections of infrastructure, policy, and place. Her passion is figuring out how to make cities work and feel better for people, while advancing equity, supporting anti-racist practices, honoring history, constructing sustainable systems, and creating healthy and beautiful public space. Her work has taken her to three continents and across the US. For seven years, she has collaborated with Dr. Lisa Servon to investigate impacts of US financial policy and predatory lending products on the lives of formerly incarcerated people, women, and payday loan users. She has taught hundreds of students at public and private universities, and been awarded course development funding by Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. She holds a PhD in Urban and Public Policy from The New School, an MS in Urban Planning from Columbia University, and a BA from Sarah Lawrence College. She lives and loves in Brooklyn, NY.
