  1. Reimagining the Dream: The Future of Home Ownership

    Picket_fence_web

American writer Ann Douglas said, “Home is an invention on which no one has yet improved.” That may be true, but in today’s economic climate, the road home is long and winding, with plenty of potholes and detours to stymie the most seasoned traveler. In Reimagining the Dream: The Future of Home Ownership, we provide you with statistics and figures, a healthy dose of history, and a menu of ideas and thought starters to help you reimagine the American dream.

This report asks credit unions to consider the current trends and changing landscape, think beyond mere mortgages, and consider how to redefine the American dream.

Filene employed two innovation processes in this report to generate multiple home ownership idea concepts for credit unions to consider. First, Filene’s i3 group delivers the concept of the Responsible Rent Loan, whereby the credit union helps build a community by connecting property investors with qualified renters. The second innovation process tapped high-IQ individuals through Mensa Process® to generate multiple ideas using an online ideation method. Their ideas are divided into four categories: purchasing, partnerships, protection, and perks.

When the American dream is done convalescing, what tools will credit unions provide? What role will credit unions play in consumers’ lives? How will your credit union reimagine home ownership?

We invite you to take the first step to reinvention by joining us at our American dream Webinar. This Webinar will include:
    • Overview of the Responsible Rent Loan concept and call for credit unions to participate in a pilot.
    • Discussion and opportunity for input into future development of the Mensa Process ideas.

Register now to attend the Webinar, scheduled for Wednesday, December 2, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. CST.
