Who is Mark?

As CEO of the Filene Research Institute, Mark inspires people to understand the opportunities for cooperative finance to transform communities and lives. His combination of passion and critical thinking show through in his research on innovation, consumer behavior, and the financial needs of young adults.

An internationally recognized credit union expert, Mark has lectured to audiences up to 4,000 in locations across North America, Asia and Europe. His research and opinions appear in dozens of national publications including The Wall Street Journal. He has contributed to National Public Radio and advised the U.S. Department of the Treasury.

Mark is an attorney licensed to practice law in Colorado and Arizona, formerly of the firm of Montgomery, Little & McGrew; he has also held executive posts with Arizona State Credit Union and the CUNA Mutual Group. Today he serves as Vice Chair of the board of directors for Summit Credit Union, the largest credit union in Wisconsin.

Mark is married to his best friend, Alicia. They are the proud parents of two daughters and a son. In his spare time you might find Mark kayaking, attempting to practice yoga, or being walked by Argus, his Great Dane.
