What would you get if you crossed MacGyver and George Bailey? Filene i3 innovators of course, and congratulations to 16 new ones!

The Filene Research Institute has selected 16 exceptional credit union executives to join the Institute’s i3 (Ideas, Innovation, Implementation) program, which fosters the development of new ideas and innovations for credit unions. Each member will serve a two-year term and participate in semi-annual meetings arranged by Filene. The next meeting will be held October 12 – 14, 2011 in Kansas City, Missouri.

i3 has helped launch programs such as Save to Win and Debt in Focus, both of which are improving financial lives, one member at a time.

Over 50 applications from qualified credit union executives were received. With the help of Professor Murray Barrick of Texas A&M University, Filene evaluated each based on motivation, leadership, creativity & innovation, teamwork, and other key factors including present position, geography, and type of credit union. The decisions weren’t easy, but the group is fantastic.
