Transparent Disclosures

Transparent Disclosures

In 2010, Filene published a research brief on the potential impacts of the C.A.R.D. Act arguing that the new regulations may hold opportunity for credit unions. Now a study by professors from Harvard Business School, NYU and Oxford University report on one credit union’s experience with transparent credit card disclosures.

Filene Fellow and HBS professor Dennis Campbell, former Filene Fellow (and current Oxford Business School dean) Peter Tufano and NYU professor Claudine Gartenberg presented their research with Affinity Plus FCU in Minnesota.

The preliminary findings indicate that Affinity Plus FCU’s transparent disclosures positively impact consumer repayment of credit card debt. For a good write-up on the research go here.
