Through independent research and innovation, the Filene Research Institute explores issues vital to the future of credit unions and consumer finance.

Filene's Ideas Grow Here

  1. Budding Social Scientists

Each year, tens of thousands of bright minds pursue their PhD and publish such electic research as Sealed-Bid Auction of Dutch Mussels: A Statistical Analysis and Kinky Perceived Demand Curves and Keynes-Negishi Equilibria. Although, I’m sure a lot of people care about Dutch Mussels and Kinky Demand Curves, Filene Research Institute is more interested in consumer finance research.

As such, this year we piloted a program which made grants available to PhD students interested in consumer finance and credit union topics. If you go here you can see our first set of budding social scientists. We are very proud of this group and hope to add to this list of future professors and researchers who got their start with a little help from the credit union system.
